Why Release Doves At A Funeral?

Over the weekend, we officially said goodbye to our great grandmother, Helen.  Part of the sunrise funeral service in Bozeman was the family releasing doves into the air.  And there's an interesting reason why we did that...

According to the woman who owns the birds, the doves are a symbol of faith in every major religion on the world.  Plus, did you know that doves mate for life?  What a great symbol at Helen's funeral since she and Bob were married for 66 years.  And releasing doves into the air at a funeral represent the letting go of pain.  It was a beautiful moment representing the life of a beautiful woman.
