Most people who know me realize  I have a lot of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder traits. For instance, on my dinner plate, I don't like my broccoli touching my chicken and none of them can touch my rice.  I also have to put on my right sock and then my right shoe BEFORE moving to my left foot.  I know, I know, totally weird.

But I have found a new obsession that is actually healthy.  After losing my first five pounds on the St. Luke's Weight Loss challenge, I bought myself a present, a Fitbit Fitness Tracker.  Good Heavens -- they've created a monster!

For those of you who don't know what a Fitbit is, it's a little bracelet-type gadget that monitors your steps, your sleep and your activity level.  You can sync it to your smart phone and use their on-line food diary and water tools.  The daily goal for the Fitbit is to walk 10,000 steps a day.  I initially thought, "I have this DOWN!"  I work-out daily, should be no problem.  HA!  I found out that with my daily work-out I generally get about 6,000 steps a day.  And even with my "not so great" math skills, I can figure out that leaves me about 4,000 steps a day short.  Every...single...day.

Now I am completely obsessed with getting in my 10,000 steps every day.  I got home from work last week and was still 2,000 steps short of my goal, so I grabbed my husband and we went for a quick walk.  Not only did I get in my steps (plus a few more!), but I got to spend some quality time with my husband.  I find myself making more trips to get the groceries out of my car, instead of trying to carry them all in one trip. I walk to talk to my co-workers instead of sending e-mails. I do whatever I can to add in a few extra steps each day.

And the best part, I know I'm making my body move a little more each day which is a huge benefit.
