We saw this happen so many times last summer and once again a crash into the river has claimed a life. This time the victim was just 17 years old.

Katelyn J. Thayer is no longer with us. She lived in McCall and was traveling with a friend who survived the crash.

The accident happened Saturday night, but the details are just now being released. The accident happened about 2.4 miles up Salmon River Road at about 9 p.m. according to KTVB.

The car flipped and was found upside down in the river. What ended up saving the life of Katelyn's friend, Alaska Frandsen, was the fact that she was thrown from the vehicle instead of going into the water.

One peculiar note on this crash is that Frandsen alleged that several people were inside the vehicle, but as crews were working the scene, several of the people who were reportedly inside the vehicle showed up to the scene.

Another questionable element is that it is unclear as to whether Katelyn or Alaska was driving. Crews will continue to investigate to get the facts straight.

One thing is for sure, this horrible crash claimed the life of a beautiful young girl taken from us far too soon.

Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
