Serial Killers in Idaho

Wow!! There have been some shady characters in this state! Did you know all of these serial killers have been here in Idaho?

Idaho is home the first female serial killer in the country. Lyda Southard was convicted of poisoning several of her husbands, her brother in-law, and her own daughter to collect insurance money! She ended up being imprisoned at the Old Idaho Penitentiary and escaped for a year before being returned. She's buried in Twin Falls.

Paul Ezra Rhoades of Idaho Falls was executed in 2011 for killing three women. He was the first inmate to be put to death here in Idaho since 1994.

In Lewiston you'll find the Snake River Killer who went on a killing spree in the 1970's and supposedly killed over a dozen people, but the killers identity has never been found.

In Coeur d'Alene Joseph Edward Duncan III was sentenced to death in 2008 for kidnapping and killing two children from their Wolf Lodge, Idaho home. He had previously killed several of the kids family members as well. It's an awful story, but at least he's been caught and he's serving multiple life sentences.

Infamous serial killer Ted Bundy also admitted to killing a young girl from Pocatello during his crime spree. You can read about it HERE.
