We used to only hear about these stories occasionally and they generally garnered a lot of attention nationwide because to most of us it just seems so outlandish.  So crazy.  We just can't understand anyone getting to that place.

Now you hear about teachers having inappropriate relations with their students just about everywhere.  Some of them end up pregnant and years later start families together.  Most are penalized severely and the public shame they receive is enough to completely flip their lives and the lives of their family members completely upside down.

Idaho is not immune to the "TREND" if you will, of teachers not only acting but pursuing students in very inappropriate ways.  The LAW is the LAW and if you break it, you will pay.  The Idaho Age of Consent is 18 years old. ... Idaho statutory rape law is violated when a person has consensual sexual intercourse with an individual under age 18. No close in age exemptions exist, but the severity of the charge can depend on the age difference between victim and offender.

This means if you're a teacher and your student is under the age of 18, BACK OFF!

According to KTVB, 26-year-old Rebecca Mason-Cales who was teaching at Mountain View High School has pleaded guilty to having sexual relations with one of her 17-year-old male students.  His name has obviously been kept confidential to protect him and his family.  Cales was teaching German and History and is a graduate from Boise State University.  Originally she was charged with six counts of Sexual Battery of a Minor Child which she entered a plea of 'Not Guilty' to.  These charges came in February of 2018.  In August she changed her plea to 'Guilty' for one count but not the other five.  Cales has just been sentenced to 120 days in jail and she must also register as a sex offender.

The teenage student insists that everything was consensual and Cales' attorney insists that there was never any malicious intent on the part of Rebecca Mason-Cales.
