Meridian Snowboarder Dies Following Crash

What a tragic story. 34-year-old Derek Klein has passed away following a skiing accident at Sun Valley over the weekend.

Klein was discovered at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in a tree well near the Can-Can ski run, according to the Sun Valley Ski Patrol. Reports say he was unresponsive.

Klein was given CPR at the scene and then was taken to the River Run base area.  Ketchum Fire then transferred him to St. Luke's Wood River.  It was there that he was pronounced dead at roughly 3 PM.

Blaine County Coroner Russ Mikel says that the exact cause of Klein's death is still being investigated.
