Man Sentenced to 4 Days for Table Rock Fire
It's a sentence that many feel is not strict enough. 20 year old Taylor Kemp will spend just 4 days behind bars for causing the Table Rock fire last summer and burning down one mans home.
Probably no one is more upset by Kemp's sentence than Van Danielson. The Table Rock Fire burned down the home that had been in his family for 4 generations.
Danielson says through 20 year old Kemp's "ignorance and stupidity" he took everything Danielson had inherited from his parents.
In addition to the home loss, 2600 acres of the Boise Foothills were scorched.
Kemp was sentenced to 180 days in jail, but that doesn't matter much since he'll only be spending 4 days behind bars. The bulk of his sentence lies in the 144 hours of community service he will have to provide and the $391,000 in restitution he will have to pay back to Danielson, the city, the Bureau of Land Management, and Idaho Power.
According to KTVB, the Table Rock Fire started when Kemp was playing with fireworks. He initially blamed the blaze on drunken teenagers before admitting to the crime.
