Pocatello lunch lady FIRED for feeding a hungry 12 year old girl with no money!

Dalene Bowden, a school cafeteria worker for Irving Middle School in Pocatello was let go because she wouldn't let this little girl go hungry.

Dalene loves kids.  She feels for a kid when they need lunch and don't have money to pay for it.  So she takes care of that kid.  Now our system has failed to take care of her.  After she provided lunch for this 12 year old girl, she was immediately put on leave by her supervisor.  Then the Pocatello / Chubbuck School District sent her an official termination letter in the mail.

This is what's wrong with the world today.  Nobody uses their brain anymore.  People stop doing what's right and just do what they're told because they're afraid of the consequences.  People Work Scared!  I get it, I understand that rules are in place for a reason and yes, we need to do our best to comply, but there should always be exceptions to the rule.

Dalene should be celebrated not reprimanded.  She loves her job.  She loves kids.  And she's caring and giving enough to dig into her own pocket to make sure a little girl has lunch to eat.

My wife is a lunch lady for a middle school.  She talks about all the funny things kids say and do as they shuffle through the lunch line.  All of them with very different personalities and yes, some of them are little trouble makers, but each one is very cool in their own little way.  If a child doesn't have lunch money they're supposed to be directed to the office where they'll receive money.  Guess what?  Most kids go without lunch instead.  Do you know why?  Because they're embarrassed!  So my wife stopped sending them to the office.  She gives them lunch.  I guess that's stealing.  Hard to look at it this way when she tells me about all the food these schools throw out after they're done.  Yes!  They trash it.

Women like Darlene Bowden of Pocatello are heroes.  She works hard, keeps an eye out for our children, and loves them while we're off working ourselves.  My hat's off to you Darlene!
