A family has been locked inside an Idaho cemetery for wanting to visit their son's grave on the 4th of July.

Bethany Mikolas' son, Eli, was born on the 4th of July, so when he passed away at just 3 years old, her family made it a tradition to visit his grave for a little "birthday celebration."

This year ended very differently for the family. According to KTVB, when they went to the Riverview Cemetery in Kootenai County, they were told to leave and that the cemetery was closing.

Bethany says she simply wanted to put some flowers on her sons grave, but the employee wasn't having it, so he locked the family inside the cemetery when they wouldn't leave!

The Mikolas family was locked inside the cemetery for about an hour and a half before an unapologetic employee returned to let them out.

On the flip side the parks director says the employees were instructed to close the cemetery to prevent people from setting off fireworks inside. He did offer up an apology to the family and says the employee will be dealt with directly for the decision.
