According to the Idaho Department of Transportation, both lanes of Highway 55 are currently closed due to a brush fire just north of Eagle along a six-mile stretch between Floating Feather Road and Horseshoe Bend Hill Summit.

Major delays are in effect and authorities are asking drivers to please find alternate routes if possible.  According to KTVB, the fire appears to be burning south of the Avimor subdivision, and north of Shadow Valley Golf Course.

The Eagle Fire Department is out in full force with help from the Bureau of Land Management, and fire department from Meridian, Boise, and Star.  They're hitting this fire from all angles including air support from helicopters.

Lots of traffic is bottled up because many people are headed back home after the Fourth of July celebrations in the McCall area.  We will keep you posted on the details of what happened and when Highway 55 is back open.
