A Boise family donated what was once their family Christmas tree.

The 40-year-old Blue Spruce was transported from its former home in Boise to its new location: the Grove Plaza in downtown Boise.

The tree was donated by a Boise family who bought the tree from a nursery to enjoy as their Christmas tree, once it got too big, they planted it outside. Now it will be on display for everyone to enjoy at the Grove Plaza.

The city's tree lighting event at the Grove Plaza is Nov. 25 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
