Be prepared to see a lot of Professional Fire Fighters standing on street corners around the valley very soon, all looking for you to "fill the boot!"

Every year, local members of the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) greet motorists all over the valley, asking them for donations to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association's mission of funding research to fight MD with treatments and cures, as well as caring and helping kids and adults with MD.

Locally, the funds help pay for things like the state-of-the-art Care center at St. Luke's in Boise. They also help send more than 40 local kids to a experience the MDA Summer Camp at Quaker Hill Camp in McCall - all at no charge to their families.

So watch for the firefighters from the valley on street corners soon, and don't be worried when they approach your vehicle with a boot. All you have to do is throw your spare change or a couple of bucks into the boot - and drive away knowing that you just helped someone you may never meet or know. The money you put into the book may have bought you a soft drink or a cup of coffee, but it WILL help find a cure for MD.

Things like that help you sleep just a little better at night.

Fill the Boot drives will take place May 18 - 20 at intersections throughout the valley.
