Two bodies have been recovered in the Middle Fork of the Boise River after a car crashed into the river overnight.

Six people were in the vehicle.  Two did not make it out alive.  It started with a couple groups that were camping close by got together to go to some hot springs.  After a couple hours in the hot springs, the six of them piled back in the car to drive back.  Their campsite was only about 300 yards from the hot springs.

The road was washed out and in bad shape.  Two dogs they had with them started fighting which distracted the drive and then in a split second, they flipped over a forty-foot cliff and ended up in the river.

They were submerged and running out of air.  Some found their way to air pockets and some didn't.  One father, Joshua Thompson, struggled to bring his unconscious son to the surface when finally he took his last breath in his arms.  Joshua's son was only 15.

The Elmore County Sheriff's Office made quick work of the situation but could not save everyone.  A 21-year old woman also did not make it.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to both of these families and their loved ones.
