Caldwell Mom Starving Baby Sentenced to Probation

Sometimes I swear our justice system is so messed up. This mother is accused of starving her child, and all she got was a slap on the hand!

Tiffany Knapp of Caldwell has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and 5 years probation for not giving her child the food the infant needed to survive and thrive.

This mother had been given a prescription to help underweight babies gain weight and she never filled the prescription from the hospital.

Her baby was found to be severely malnourished back in September and is currently under the custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

According to the Idaho Statesman, the mother is taking parenting classes and is making "progress" with those classes so she has been able to see the child that she allegedly was starving.

Tiffany Knapp also has a second child of whom she still has custody of.

Maybe I don't know the whole story here, maybe she is naive or suffers from mental illness, or battles addiction, but you have to feed your baby! I do like that the state is educating her through parenting classes so that hopefully she can become a better Mama.

Parenting is tough, but I'm not sure this is a tough enough sentence for starving your child. What are your thoughts??
