Sometimes the things we complain about the most, we should be most grateful for.

I used to write a family blog. It chronicled most of the good times, once in a while the bad times, and all of the in between. I quit posting over 2 years ago and I regret it. I'm like a lot of you. Things look really good on the outside, but when you start to dig into my life, it's not so picture perfect. I've had a very difficult marriage, my oldest child has a high functioning form of autism, my daughter was insanely fussy as a baby, and I am not the easiest person to live with.

Today I discovered something I had written 6 years ago and it was a beautiful reminder to be grateful for those things we don't feel so grateful for sometimes. I thought I'd share...

November 25, 2009

It's 5am..I need to get to work. Jocelyn has been up since 3:30, she was up at 2:30 as well. I love her so much. This morning I am thankful. I'm thankful she is alive. I'm grateful every time she blows a kiss, claps her hands, quacks like a duck, makes the doggie sound, and dances. She is so beautiful.

Boston threw some huge fits yesterday. Over me pulling the bath tub plug, talking to the guy at the cash register, and not putting the "right" movie on. I am so thankful. So thankful that he can communicate with his words. So thankful that he is thriving in a regular preschool class. So thankful that he perseveres to wear his tennis shoes even though he says "they're owie" and he only wants to wear slip ons. He is my Hero. I often take a step back and ask the Lord, "What did I do to get to be the mother of such an amazing little boy?" Amazing.

JT didn't hug me when he came through the door last night. He slept in the living room with our dog. I am so thankful. So thankful for a husband that stands by me through thick and thin. So grateful for a man whose glass is always half full. So thankful for a husband who makes a great daddy and plays and tickles his babies and gets up with Jocelyn. For a man who is back in school to help make us better off. I love him so much and I am so glad I took a chance on him. Best deal I ever made.

Snuggles (our dog) didn't get me out of bed in the middle of the night last night, but he usually does and I am so grateful for that little furball that makes me chase him around the neighborhood!

I am the luckiest girl alive.

Happy Thanksgiving.
