Woman Robbed at Gunpoint in Meridian

A woman was just walking down the street in Meridian when she was robbed at gunpoint!!

It happened at 6:30 yesterday morning as she walking along Lake Hazel Road approaching the intersection of Locust Grove.

According to KTVB a green SUV came up behind the woman as she was walking. A man with a bandanna then jumped out of the SUV, pulled out a gun, and demanded the woman's personal items.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the attack and the man in the SUV drove away on Lake Hazel Road going West bound.

Who would ever think something like this could happen in a "safe" family friendly city like Meridian in broad daylight on fairly busy roads?!

It's shocking, startling, and a good reminder that you can never be too careful, especially when walking or jogging alone. I care a stun gun with me for this reason and I'd encourage women in particular to carry something like a stun gun or pepper spray with them to help keep them safe. Luckily, this woman is going to be o.k.
