Authorities are still investigating what led this woman to drive into the Spokane River. Here's what we know so far.

A 54-year-old woman is dead after driving her Volkswagon into the river at about 8 a.m. yesterday morning near Idaho Street and Anchor Way in Post Falls.

Rescuers tried to reach her in time, but she sunk with her vehicle and although she was pulled to safety, it was too late and she later passed away at an area hospital.

According to idahonews.com, foul play is not suspected in this case. It's still unclear if the woman drove her car into the river intentionally or if an accident led her to drive into the water.

The woman's identity has not been released to the public, but please keep all who loved her in your thoughts and prayers.
