Wilder City Councilman Dead In Canyon County Crash

Two vehicles were involved in a deadly crash on Idaho 19 on Allendale Road around 3:30 yesterday afternoon.

20-year-old Ismael Fernandez was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition Friday afternoon when he crossed the center line and struck a truck hauling two loaded beet trailers.  The beet trailers jack knifed and Fernandez was ejected from his vehicle. He was immediately rushed to Saint Alphonsus hospital.

Fernandez unfortunately died at the hospital.  He was wearing a seat belt.  He was featured last year in a KTVB Idaho Life Story on Wilder's-All Latino Leadership.  

Fernandez was elected to the Wilder City Council at the young age of 19.  He had previously attended the College of Idaho.  He will be missed.
