Why Is Facebook And Instagram Not Working

Facebook and Instagram are down for a lot of users across the country including us here in the Boise, Idaho area.  So what's going on?

You can open both platforms but you cannot send or receive messages.  You also cannot post any new content.  Here's a message Facebook has just sent out...

It's looking like the outages are mainly in New England; Texas; Seattle, Washington; parts of Latin America, including Peru; the UK; India; and the Philippines.  That doesn't mean there aren't small pockets everywhere else like right here in Boise that isn't being affected.  I haven't been able to get on for over an hour now.

Wish we had some answers on this and we should soon.  Both Facebook and Instagram are making this a top priority and will relay information when available.
