The 30 year old native of Hailey, Idaho will stand trial for desertion, leaving his combat outpost in Afghanistan, and misbehavior before the enemy.

 

Bergdahl was held as a prisoner of war for five years until President Obama freed five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for his return.  He's looking at a possible life sentence if convicted.

 

His original Court Marshall was set for August but has now been moved back so that Bergdahl's attorneys have plenty of time to sort through classified documents.

 

His new court date is February 27, 2017.
