This morning in the Three Things You Need To Know Before You Go we were talking about a scam going on in the Treasure Valley. Safe to say if you get a call from someone telling you that you will be fined or there will be a warrant out for your arrest from missed jury duty, it's a scam.  Police say they wouldn't call you or ask for any of your money over the phone.

Laurie then called talking about a scam  her mom was part of saying that her grandson was in jail and needed $2200.  And then we get this email:

I have a student that was telling me that someone had called his grandma recently saying that my student had been in an accident with them the night before at 10 pm.  They said that grandma needed to given them 1,500 to cover the damages and that she needed to hurry and do it because they were headed back to the Dominican Republic.  She told them she'd get back to them.  She then called her grandson, who happened to be in my classroom at the time.  She told him what happened and he said he was at home in bed at 10 pm.  Then Mom called to find out what was going on and she verified to grandma that the kid was at home.  So when the Dominicans called back, grandma told them that they were going to have to get the money out of the kid that he got himself into the mess, and he can get himself out of it.

If you are approached with any of these things, make sure to 1) not give money and 2) call the police and let them know what's going on.
