Top Idaho Snow Sledding Hot Spots
With lots of cold and lots of snow comes lots of fun. Here's the all-time best snow sledding spots here in the Treasure Valley.
Eagle Island State Park
What: Tubing, snowboarding and skiing, including snowboard rentals and a magic carpet. The company’s location at Eagle Sports Complex is dormant this season.
Where: 4000 W. Hatchery Road, Eagle
When: 3-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. weekends and holidays.
How much? Day passes: $15. Season passes: $149 before Dec. 2, $199 after Dec. 2.

Bogus Basin
What: An 800-foot slope tubing-only hill with a paddle tow. Tubes provided. Online reservations recommended.
Where: The tubing hill at Bogus Basin is on your left as you enter the resort. Park anywhere in the main lot or near the Nordic center.
When: Two-hour sessions on Fridays through Sundays and holidays.
How much? $12 per person for a two-hour session

Idaho X Sports
What: Three tubing lanes that vary from "mild to wild" on its 900-foot-long slope. Online or phone reservations recommended.
Where: 135 Charter Ranch Road in Garden Valley, about an hour north of Boise. Take Idaho 55 to Banks and take the Banks-to-Lowman Highway to Garden Valley. About a half-mile past milepost 11, turn right onto Alder Creek Road. Cross the silver bridge, then turn right onto Freedom Ranch Road. The snow tube hill is a mile straight ahead.
When: 5-9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Sunday. Open during school breaks Monday-Thursday for private events.

Activity Barn
What: Up to six 800-foot tubing lanes with a vertical drop of 85 feet. The Activity Barn also has groomed Nordic ski trails, a rail park and and beginner ski slope.
Where: After entering McCall on Idaho 55, turn left at the stoplight on Deinhard Lane. Continue a half-mile on Deinhard to Mission Street. Take a left (south) on Mission.
When: 4-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Special hours during holidays and school breaks.
How much? $14 for a two-hour session; $5 for one ride

Steamboat Gulch
What: This is a walk-up slope, with no tow rope. The fee pays for plowing the road and parking lot, and for portable toilets. Bring your own tube.
Where: Go a mile north of Idaho City on Idaho 21. Turn right on Pine Creek Road and go about a half-mile, turn right onto a bridge. That road will take you to the tubing hill.
How much? $10 parking fee
