We've all been there. You have a little car trouble and pull over to the side of the freeway to check things out. That situation turned into a nightmare this morning on I-84 when a stopped car was hit by a semi.

26-year old Matthew Collins of Forest Grove, Oregon was in the right lane along westbound I-84 near the Elmore County line at about 2:46 this morning.

It's not known right now why Matthew stopped. Perhaps he did have some car trouble, maybe he was tired, maybe he had a medical emergency,  but unfortunately, a semi driven by 61-year-old Edward J. Garlock of Boise hit the back of Matthew's Toyota Scion. Garlock tried to swerve to miss Matthew but ended up hitting his car with the front corner of his semi.

What happened next is a little unclear. According to KTVB, one person was taken to the hospital, but that person's identity has not been released. We know Garlock, who was in the semi, was wearing a seatbelt, but it is not known whether or not Matthew was buckled up.

We'll keep you posted as the investigation unfolds.
