For a good week now, Treasure Valley residents walk outside to the smell and sight of smoke, smoke, smoke.

The air quality currently is in the yellow zone meaning its moderate with visibility of six to ten miles.  Air quality is in the mid-to upper-moderate level but Health Officials are warning people to stay indoors as much as possible as smoke moves in and out of the valley.

While the visible smoke is putting a damper on Idaho outdoor activities, know this... it looks worse than it is.  We sit in a valley so smoke moves right down into the pocket from nearby fires.

The Department of Environmental Quality says smoke affects each person differently.  People most sensitive to smoke are the elderly, children, and people with respiratory issues.  The smoke is generally the worst in the morning while the inversion usually burns off a bit just after lunch time.
