After more than 3 months, the biggest fire in Idaho and the entire nation is out!

The Pioneer fire burned more than 190,000 acres in the Boise National Forest and now crews have the task of replanting and restoring the land.

According to KTVB, 40% of the land was burned so badly that there is now a big risk of flooding in the area. Spreading mulch and straw will help prevent the flooding from happening.

The area of Rock Creek and Clear Creek remain closed and they Payette River is closed for recreational use. The Burned Area Emergency Response Team says there is a 50% chance that flooding will occur despite the efforts and the damage will effect the area for 3-5 years, not just this winter.

Huge Thanks to everyone who has helped put the fire out and those who will continue to work and restore the land.
