A 72 year old man is in the hospital this morning after an officer involved shooting in Kuna last night. 

 

It happened about 6:40 last night in the South Desert of Kuna. The family of the elderly man contacted the Canyon County Sheriff's department and said they were concerned the man was going to hurt himself.

 

Deputies spotted the man near Melba and attempted to pull him over, but her refused. When they finally made contact with the 72 year old man, he refused to get out of his car and pointed a handgun at three officers.

 

According to KTVB, this is when officers opened fire and then man was hit several times. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to a local hospital, but his wounds are not life threatening.

 

The shooting is currently being investigated by the Critical Incident Task Force.
