Rep. John Gannon of Boise is behind this legislation to combat heroin addiction.  This bill would send a message loud and proud!  Anyone that sells heroin to a user that dies gets slapped with a second degree murder charge.

Painkiller and heroin abuse here in the Treasure Valley have reached epidemic levels.  Authorities are at a loss as to how to tackle this situation so it looks like they're going to extremes.  Punish... Punish... Punish... those responsible.

Idaho state law punishes second degree murder with a minimum of ten years in prison and a maximum of life.

The House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee has agreed to have this proposal sent to a legislative hearing which has not been scheduled as of yet.  We'll keep you posted.
