Man in Payette Plane Crash Identified

The pilot who died in a plane crash in Payette on Saturday has been identified. 

It has been confirmed that 74 year old Prescott "Gene" E. Wilkie of Payette is the pilot who was killed in a crash that happened near NE 19th Avenue between Payette Heights and Scotchpines Road. According to the Idaho Statesman, that's about a mile before the Payette airport.

Although we now know who was in the pilots seat, what caused the crash is unclear. The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating. We also don't know at this time if anyone else was in the plane with Wilkie when it went down, but our thoughts and prayers will certainly be with his family and friends during this difficult time.
