It was close to midnight last night when the Idaho State Police pulled over a man close to Northgate Mile and Lomax in Idaho Falls.  The man jumped out of his vehicle, took off on foot and was then pursued by officers.  When officers were able to catch him a physical altercation took place that ended with one of the Idaho State Troopers pulling his gun and firing a shot.

According to East Idaho News First Aid was immediately rendered and the man was transported to was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he, unfortunately, didn't make it.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The identity of the man has not been released giving authorities some time to notify the family.  This, along with all officer-involved shootings in this area is investigated by the Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force.
