Shadow James Stagner, 51, of Caldwell has been charged for allegedly repeatedly hitting a relative with a baseball bat on Sunday night.  According to police, the incident stemmed from a text message argument between the two men earlier in the evening.

Stagner says that the victim came to his home and he hit him in the head with the bat after another man involved grabbed his arm.  Investigators say that they saw the victim bleeding from his head and told them that he felt dizzy.  The victim was later taken to a local hospital.

Officers at the scene say that Stagner appeared to very "very intoxicated" and even told them that he had "quite a bit" to drink that night.

Stagner was arrested and taken to Canyon County Jail where he was charged with aggravated battery and if convicted, could spend as many as 15 years in prison.
