It’s Huckleberry Season In Idaho

The delicious little berries are just starting to ripen!

It s Huckleberry season in Idaho! The huckleberry was designated as the official state fruit of Idaho in 2000. There are lots of great huckleberry patches around Idaho, everyone has their favorite.

Up by McCall and near Silver Creek are my go to places. My fingers are always stained purple this time of year from berry-picking. Last year even my dog figured out what I was doing and helps himself to berries (and leaves and twigs, he's not quite as picky). My mom and dad just got back from a trip up to the mountains a couple of days ago and came back with a ton! If you're planning a trip up to the mountains anytime soon, make sure to keep your eye on the mountainside! Happy picking!
