Ok, seriously the ONE time I'm actually thankful for a technical issue. The IRS announced yesterday afternoon through Twitter that they would be extending the filing deadline to Wednesday, April 18 at midnight. Can I get a whoop whoop?! I mean, I'm literally the worst when it comes to filing taxes. I always wait til the last second and this year is no different. I had a bit of a panic moment yesterday knowing my time was almost up. But then the glorious alert popped up on my phone with the good news.

So why the change? According to KTVB, the IRS made the decision after a technical problem with their direct pay system, which allows you to pay your taxes directly from your bank account. Taxpayers were getting the following message (via KTVB):

"This service is temporarily unavailable. We are working to resolve the issue. Please come back later and try again, or you can visit the Make a Payment page for alternative payment methods. We apologize for any inconvenience."

The error had the site down for most of the day, prompting IRS officials to make the call. I mean, I was OK with it, how about you?
