While all the doom and gloom in the news may lead us to believe otherwise, the Gem State's middle class is prospering in a big way.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median income in Idaho is up $1,600 on average over the last five years. The data gathered from 2012-2016 isn't all good news though. The national median income is around $55,000, while Idaho's is only $49,000.

It's good news and good progress for working Idahoans. Economically speaking, we've still got a ways to go. 15% of Idahoans are currently living at or below the poverty line. You can find more info on the Census Bureau's findings here.
