The gender wage gap in America isn't great for our country's working women. In Idaho, the number is downright shameful.

It isn't breaking news that women aren't paid the same as men in this country. To date, women on average make about 80 cents for every dollar a man makes. The Gem State's numbers are much worse.

Idaho women with full time jobs are taking home just 76% of what men make. The numbers become absolutely abysmal with women who are minorities. Latina women are making only 54% of what men make, while black women take home 63%. Completely unacceptable. Luckily, the American Association of University Women has a goal to completely close the wage gap by the year 2030.

I'd say it's about time. While 2030 might feel far away, I think we can all agree we want to live in a country where everyone is treated equally, paid fairly, and able to pursue the American dream.

Who run the world? Girls.
