An Idaho teacher turned astronaut has just received the states highest civilian honor.

Barbara Morgan taught elementary school in McCall before entering NASA's Teacher in Space program.

Barbara traveled on the Endeavor back in 2007 and trained as a NASA mission specialist.

According to KTVB she received the Idaho Medal of Achievement yesterday during the State of the State address.

The honor was created in 2015 and is given to individuals living or dead who are nominated by the public to a five member commission and then approved by Governor Butch Otter.

Congratulations Barbara Morgan! You are a great example to the youth of this state and everyone here in Idaho!
