Protect yourself!  If you're experiencing flu-related symptoms, do not take them lightly.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is urging people to getting vaccinated for influenza.  The cost of not getting vaccinated could be your life.

Our condolences go out to the family of an Idaho man who died from flu-like symptoms.  He's the first death of this type in Idaho this season.  His name and town information has not yet been released.  All we know is that he was 50-years-old.  That info is according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Up to 20% of Idaho's population is infected by flu-like symptoms each year.  Those symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and possibly a cough and sore throat.  Most recover within a few days but some are affected dramatically.  They develop life-threatening complications.  The flu contributes to about 36,000 deaths and 200,000 people in the hospital across the country each year.

Those most at risk are pregnant women, people over 50, those with asthma, diabetes or heart and lung diseases.  Also those who live in a long-term care facility should take all precautions.

If you haven't received your flu shot.  Please do so.
