The statewide children's and teenager's book drive is taking place right here in the Treasure Valley.

The United Way of Treasure Valley has been hosting the book drive since Saturday.  It finishes up tomorrow, Friday, April 8.  It's at The Boise Barnes and Noble and runs until 2 p.m. with free activities for the family.

The main message the United Way is trying to spread is, "Read To Your Kids."  Grab a book, set up a schedule, and stick to it.

The goal for this book drive is to collect 100,000 used or new books.  Last summer more than 70,000 books were donated.  Once the books are collected they'll be cleaned by volunteers and immediately distributed to kids in need before they get out for summer break.
