What is going on at Lake Lowell and who just abandons their pet?

According to Melissa Blackmer who has started a Facebook page to help get pets fostered and adopted that have been abandoned at Lake Lowell, this is happening to hundreds of kittens and other unwanted pets.

Melissa told KTVB that she believes this is happening because their are a lot of mice and birds in the area so people think their "pet" will have a chance of surviving. Truth is many of them freeze and starve to death.

Blackmer has rescued over 40 kittens during the past year. If you can't handle your pet (Trust me I understand, I'm fostering a kitten right now that wants to rip my face off half the time.) Check into Simply Cats, a no-kill shelter in Boise.
