Do you hate how you look in selfies? Here's some tips to getting that perfect selfie pic!

I swear I can have all the confidence in the world and then I take a selfie and it all goes down the toilet! Luckily, Allure magazine has given us some great tips for taking the perfect selfie.

  • You're in the dark: The first rule of taking a good selfie is that it’s all about lighting. Good lighting. Natural lighting. Instead of facing your computer screen or television, turn toward a window with natural light. Good lighting can actually make under eye circles and shadows totally disappear.
  • You're not using a filter: There's absolutely no shame in editing a photo of yourself before posting it. An app called Facetune, lets you subtly blur, shape, morph, and define certain areas of your face.
  • You’re not playing to your angles: If there's one piece of advice you should take from Kim Kardashian, it's this: When it comes to selfies, keep your chin down and the camera up.
  • You're not using a timer: On an iPhone, tap the clock image on the top of your camera app, and then choose between a three-second or ten-second wait time.
  • You're taking only one selfie: Kylie Jenner's best selfie tip is just to take selfies. A lot of selfies. She's said that she takes "like, 500 selfies" before she finds one she likes enough to post.
  • You're making a weird face: The duck face might give you killer cheekbones—but it's time to retire it. Instead, "Right before you snap a selfie, say 'yes' in your head, or 'yasss' if you're feeling extra sassy. You can also inhale just as you hit the shutter for lightly parted lips and a relaxed expression.
