Those visiting Idaho for the first time are usually in for a shocker! Here's some ways you can easily spot an Idaho tourist.

I found this funny little list of how those visiting the Gem State stand out in a crowd; plus I've had a few family members visit recently and here are some of the "roll my eyes" things they said or did.

1. First way to spot an Idaho tourist is a no brainer. They always say Boi-ze instead of Boy-see. Get it right people!

2. My cousin Lexi recently asked me "Do they really have Better Potatoes in Idaho?!" Hum.. check your bag at home Lex. Your potatoes are probably from Idaho too...but let it be known we have much much more than just potato fields here!

3. When you suggest taking a bike ride down the green belt or going for a hike they look at you like "why would you do that?" Idahoans are outdoorsy people and if you're visiting the Gem State you should probably plan on getting outdoors!

4. They've never heard of fry sauce, finger steaks, pizza and ranch, or our infamous ice-cream potato!

5. My extended family members look at me like I'm lying when I tell them we pretty much have all the big chains here like H&M, Athleta, Sephora, Costco, Williams Sonoma, Gap, Lululemon, The Cheesecake Factory etc. etc. etc. They think we have nothing out here but farmlands and farmers markets!

If you've never been to Boise or Idaho before you may be quite surprised. Like we've said, it's America's Great Secret and we hope it never gets out! That's right folks, all we have out here are farms and potatoes (wink, wink!)
