How To Kill A Fruit Fly

My house is being overrun by an invasion of fruit flies.  But thanks to the trusty intra-web, I have found a solution.

According to this website and a gazillion others, you can use apple cider vinegar to capture and kill fruit flies.  So, I fashioned a fruit fly trap using a mason jar.  I stuck a piece of apple in with the vinegar as some added temptation.  Turns out the little stinkers really are attracted to the stuff!  And if you make the hole in the plastic wrap over the top just small enough, they're not smart enough to get back out.  Most of all, I have made my hippie wife happy by not resorting to chemicals.  Have fruit flies?  Give it a try and let me know what you think.  Unless of course you have a better way to kill 'em, please let me know!
