I love traditions. Here's some of the fun things I like to do with my family during the holidays.

I was talking to my daughter today about Thanksgiving and she said, "don't forget those "popper" things!" We like to do what are traditionally called "Christmas Crackers" on the kids' table. It's a tube with a prize inside that is wrapped up and when you pull the ends the little toy pops out! We do this at Thanksgiving & Christmas sometimes.

Other fun traditions we do with the kids include...

  • drawing names for Christmas presents on Thanksgiving. We trade off getting presents for one sibling or one cousin and it's fun to see who you get to shop for that year.
  • My Grandma always hides an almond in the rice pudding on Christmas. Whoever finds it gets $20!
  • My Grandma also hides a pickle ornament in her Christmas tree and whoever finds the pickle gets a special present.
  • Of course you have to fight over the wishbone and see whose wish is going to come true!
  • The last tradition we do with the kids is opening pajamas on Christmas Eve. A lot of families do this, but it's really fun and everyone looks cute in their new pajamas on Christmas morning!
