He’s Never Gonna Date You!

The story of my broken heart and signs that crush of yours may never be in to you!

When I was in 8th grade I fell hard. First off, I was awkward and gangly. Bad hair, teeth that were too big for my mouth, and I looked like I was 10 not 14.

Tyson Peterson was in my U.S. History class. He had perfectly gelled hair that made him look like James Bond. He was constantly tan and he had more confidence in his pinkie than I had in my entire body. I had to get his attention!

I started goofing off in class, wearing all my "cute outfits," and showing up to class at just the right moment so I could score a seat next to him!

Oddly enough, over the course of the next several years as we got into High School he became one of my best friends. I'll never forget the first time he called my house and asked me if I wanted to come over and "hang out?!" I was stunned and soooooo excited!! I thought we were going to be just like Jen-nay and Forrest in "Forrest Gump!"

Guess what?! He was never in to me. He never kissed me, we didn't end up together, and I was obviously clueless about the whole thing! I thought because he invited me over, asked for back massages, and took me to the prom he wanted to date me. I was wrong. He liked a girl named Lindsay and I'm pretty sure I was that "I like you like a buddy" kind of girl.

I was heartbroken for a long time, but looking back now, we were a wrong fit right from the start. Who wants someone who isn't into you anyway?! If you would have told my High School heart that though I would have told you you were dead wrong!

So, here's some signs your crush is never going to date you! (Wish I would have come across this list 20 years ago!)

1. You've told them how you feel and nothing! (Oh yeah I wrote letters and cried, the whole thing. He just patted me on the back and left to play basketball!)

2. They know you like them and they use it to their advantage. (Oh trust me, he did this big time! I made that boy meals at a moments notice, and I had a whole drawer full of "I Owe You's!")

3. They flirt with you, but only when they're feeling sad and single.

4. They "totally would date you" but there's always an excuse!

5. They'll hang out with you but not go out with you!

If you find yourself in this situation, turn away and run! He's never gonna date you and you deserve way better!
