Are we past the cabin fever? Who knows, it’s Idaho. It could be snowing again by next week. For now, it’s time to get out and have some fun, hear some music, and attend events that spark the imagination, like the North End Organic Nursery’s Grand Opening, where they’re talking about their plans to help Garden City evolve into the garden it once was. Eat a Lenten Lunch with friends, tour the wastewater plant. Remember, there are no boring days, only boring people.

North End Organic Nursery Grand Opening

North End Organic Nursery 3777 E. Chinden Blvd., Garden City
From 3-7 is the Grand Opening of the North End Organic Nursery’s new location at the former Costume Shop. They’ve been running a campaign to turn the Chinden area back into the green oasis it once was, and there’s a story behind that: From the 1800s through the mid 20th century, Garden City was full of plush farms and gardens that were cared for by the Treasure Valley’s early Chinese settlers. The name Chinden is a combination of “China” and “Garden”. By the 1950s, a lot of that was paved over for commercial and industrial use. The North End Organic Nursery plans to bring the garden back to Garden City, definitely a part of history, and cause for celebration.
At their party, they’ll have local food trucks, art projects and a bounce house for the kids, some fresh cut flowers to give away, and tours of their new location.
