Free Idaho Campground to Start Charging

This popular camping spot in Idaho going to start charging.

Horsethief Reservoir will no longer be free starting in July. The Treasure Valley Family YMCA is partnering with Idaho Fish and Game to improve the campsites, so they will be switching to a pay and stay model and using those funds to make the renovation.

Starting July 1st it will cost you $15 to camp at Horsethief.

Another thing to keep in mind is that only 85 sites will open this summer at Horsethief. 32 sites on the east side will be closed this year due to hazard tree removal and construction projects.

The partnership between Idaho Fish and Game and the YMCA will last two years. For more information on this story visit IdahoStatesman.com
