Floating Starts Saturday!

Are you itching to float the river? Here's your opportunity!

Flows on the Boise River will get down to 3200 cfs on Saturday, but that's still more than double where we need to be for float season to start.

Luckily, there is a great alternative in Garden Valley and Crouch. According to KTVB, flows along the Middle Fork of the Payette near Crouch are around 800 cfs and the water is reportedly clean and safe.

If you need a ride there, buses are hauling 40 people at a time for $5 and tube rental is just $15. The service will run every weekend in July along with July 3rd and 4th. (You can float weekdays too, they just won't have a bus running back and forth.)

Floating starts at the Crouch Community Church, you'll float two miles downstream, and then get out at Anderson Creek near the Crouch Rodeo Grounds.

A few things to keep in mind before you float.

• weather can easily change the flow conditions in an instant
• there aren't as many points to stop as there are on the Boise River
• parking is more limited
• the water is usually colder than the Boise River
