Shopko announced plans to close their location at Fairview and Milwaukee last month, but Boise residents were surprised to find "store closing" signs in the windows at a different location this weekend.

According to our friend Don at BoiseDev, Shopko launched the liquidation of their Broadway Avenue store in Boise on Friday.  Shoppers can find discounts starting at 10-30% off. Shopko hasn't returned Don's request for more information about the store folding, but it is expected to stay open until all items are sold.

Those who used Shopko as their pharmacy (is it bad that I live down the street from this Shopko and never knew there was a pharmacy there?) are being directed to the Federal Way Fred Meyer, just a few miles away.

After the Broadway store closes for good, the Nampa location will be the only Shopko store left in the Treasure Valley.

Living so close to the SE Boise Shopko, I'm sad to see it go but it does leave behind the opportunity for a new retailer to move into some prime real estate near the I-84 on ramp. There's no word on who could be moving in there next, but when the Gordman's in the same neighborhood closed residents were hopeful it would become a Target (it didn't.) Don put a lot of research into the odds of Target considering the Broadway Shopko building as their next Treasure Valley location. You can see that analysis here! ::fingers crossed::
