Don’t Cry 50 Cent – I Understand

I feel sorry for 50 Cent.

This the rapper / business mogul tossed out the first pitch at a Met's game.  As Bob Uecker would say, it was "juuuuuuust a bit outside."  (You can watch Fiddy's "pitch" here.)

Hey, it doesn't matter how many muscles you have or how cool you are on a stage, throwing a baseball is a different animal.

Several years ago I was asked to throw out the first pitch at a Minor League baseball game in Wichita, KS. It was a total honor.  And a total fail.

First of all, they wouldn't let me stand on the pitcher's mound.  I was a bit insulted, as if they thought I couldn't get the ball from there to the catcher.

They turned out to be correct.

The ball got about halfway there and hit the ground about two feet in front of the catcher the Wichita Wrangler's sent out to share the field with me.  I still have the ball:

I keep it in my office. It serves as a great reminder to be humble.  As awesome as I might think I am (which actually doesn't happen all that often), I still will never be able to throw a baseball.
