43-year-old Deputy John Rynhart of the Ada County Sheriff's Office has been placed on administrative leave immediately following his arrest last night after a crash at the intersection of Meridian Road and Chinden Blvd.

According to KTVB, Rynhart was driving south on Chinden in his personal vehicle while off-duty when he crashed into a Honda Civic that was stopped at a stop light.  The vehicle Rynhart hit had a 16-year-old driver along with two minors and all three are reported to be unharmed.

When the Meridian Police arrived and administered the sobriety tests, Rynhart agreed to take them but failed to provide the proper amount of breath samples needed prompting the police to take blood samples which immediately puts Rynhart under suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Rynhart was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and has since posted bail for $500.  He has a court appearance on June 4th and Meridian Police Department along with the Ada County Sheriff's Office is waiting on the toxicology report before further action is taken.  Rynhart will remain on administrative leave until then.
