Be careful if you go hiking in the foothills. A coyote has been spotted and she's going after dogs. Here's what you need to be aware of.

There have been two coyote sightings in the Boise Foothills along the Hulls Gulch Trail.

According to the Idaho Fish and Game, the coyote is probably protecting pups.

Dogs need to be on a leash if you go hiking in this area because in both instances the coyote went after dogs.

According to KTVB, if you do see a coyote, try to give it lots of space, and be hyper-aware of the coyote's behavior.

Anyone who sees a coyote needs to report it to Boise Parks and Recreation.

Again, please be very aware of your surroundings as you hike and always keep your dog on a leash. It isn't worth the possibility that you or your dog could lose your lives. This is not something to take lightly!
